Britannia Jim Jam x Marvel
Turning Kids Into Superheroes Through AR Gameplay
An AR and AI powered gamified experience where children wore Marvel superhero headgear in real time, dodged incoming obstacles and competed on leaderboards to win rewards.
Background & Challenge
Bringing Superhero Fandom Into Interactive Play
The kids snacking category is highly competitive, with brands constantly using popular characters to drive attention. However, most integrations remain static, limiting engagement.
With Marvel’s strong fan following among children, Britannia wanted to go beyond character branding and create an experience where kids could actively participate in the superhero universe.
The challenge was to transform fandom into an engaging, repeatable gameplay experience.
The Idea
Become A Marvel Superhero And Play To Win
The campaign allowed children to step into the Marvel universe.
By accessing the experience through Jim Jam packs, users could transform into one of five Marvel superheroes and enter a gamified challenge.
Players had to dodge incoming obstacles, score points and compete with others, turning the experience into an exciting game rather than a passive interaction.
Strategy
Combining Fandom With Competitive Gameplay
The strategy focused on blending two powerful engagement drivers.
First, the emotional connection children have with Marvel superheroes.
Second, the excitement of competitive gaming.
By introducing leaderboards and rewards, the campaign encouraged repeat participation while deepening the connection between users and the brand.
Execution & Technology
AR Headgear Tracking Powered By AI Gameplay Logic
A mobile first experience was developed combining Augmented Reality and AI systems.
AR was used to create and track five Marvel superhero headgear, accurately mapped onto the user’s face in real time.
AI driven gameplay logic powered obstacle detection, scoring mechanics and responsive interactions. Users physically moved to dodge incoming elements, making the gameplay dynamic and immersive.
The platform featured daily, weekly and fortnightly leaderboards, encouraging competition and repeat engagement.
An integrated analytics layer tracked gameplay behaviour, user journeys and performance metrics.
